[EP25] Nathan Kaso, Film photography
Today’s pod is with a super-talented I’ve known in the industry for some time. Nathan’s career has been primarily in moving images but now he has turned his attention to capturing stills, particularly using the medium of film. He now specialises in capturing weddings on film, through his new business Analog Modern and has worked up a personal collection of stunning shots in his personal work. We chat about making the switch from moving to still images and the challenges that come with working with film.

Throughout these years of honing his craft, Nathan grew an affinity with photography - always going the extra mile when capturing images of his family. After seeing a gap in the market for a still-image film specialist, he took the plunge even developing his black and white negatives at home. My biggest takeaway
It was so great to catch up with Nathan. All of his insights and expert knowledge bites about film photography were awesome. But, my biggest takeaway would be from the tail end of our conversation talking about photos not just being for ‘right now. With photos being captured so easily and uploaded to Instagram for that instant gratification it can be difficult to value an individual image. That’s why it’s so important for every photographer to really focus on creating images that will stand the test of time - helping to teach clients that quality always trumps quantity.
